Surviving Riyadh

My above photo was taken within the hospital compound of King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center while residing in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Saudi Arabia is the birth place of the Arab race and Muslims believe their Arabic language as holy. It’s also home to two Islam’s holiest cities, “Mecca and Medina” and host to modern, thriving, oil-rich metropolis.

However, Saudi Arabia is a country incredibly difficult to visit and a male dominated society where rights of women are just 50% of that of men. Riyadh, its capital, is now a modern city of homes, hotels, and hospitals. It's also considered to have the largest airport in the Middle East.

In Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center, is a modern hospital and research facility that employs people from different countries, the majority coming from North America. It was through this hospital that I was hired as a Research Associate.

Although I had to overcome many obstacles in my work environment as well as the restrictions imposed upon me as a woman, my experiences in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia are still very unique. I learned to empathize with the flight of women whose rights are restricted.

Women in America take their freedom for granted, whereas, women in some countries have restricted freedom. One such country is Saudi Arabia.

I dedicate my published ebook 'Surviving Riyadh' to women throughout the world whose freedom are restricted or have no freedom at all. Let's unite! We can achieve freedom if we don't quit and keep moving forward towards complete freedom.
